New Tenri Anime of The World God Only Knows Announced

According to the wraparound jacket band on the 17th volume of The World God Only Knows (Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai) manga, a new anime about the character Tenri Ayukawa has been green-lit. The limited edition of the 19th manga volume will bundle an OVA around October 18.

The World God Only Knows is written and illustrated by Tamiki Wakaki. It’s been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine since 2008. The manga already inspired two TV anime seasons, a prologue original anime DVD, and another original video anime DVD.

The story centers around a dating sim master named Keima Katsuragi, who wants nothing more than to immerse himself in the 2D world, chasing digital girlfriends. But when the so-called “Capturing God” answers a mysterious email from an unknown sender, Keima finds himself chasing down real-life ladies in an attempt to help the peppy demon Elsie de Lute Irma capture “lost souls” escaped from the depths of hell. Now, lest the explosive collar around his neck detonate, Keima must convince various girls to fall in love with him in order to scare out the souls hiding in their hearts.

Tenri Ayukawa is one of the main recurring characters of The World God Only Knows series. She is a shy and reticent childhood friend of Keima, who was a former neighbor and classmate of his until the Katsuragi household relocated ten years ago because of an earthquake. She’s been adoring Keima ever since the accident during this earthquake. She is now Katsuragi’s neighbor again, this time right next-door.
