TV Anime Astro Boy Celebrates 50th Anniversary

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first broadcast of animated TV series Astro Boy, Fuji TV now allows viewers to pay to watch this 1963 anime series starting January 1, 2013.  

Astro Boy is a Japanese television series that premiered on Fuji TV on New Year's Day. It was adapted from a manga of the same name in 1952 by Osamu Tezuka. As the show that jump-started the TV anime industry, Astro Boy later aired in the United States. The series, as a result, carries historical significance for both countries.
