Manga 'Silver Spoon' to Get Live-Action Movie in Spring Next Year!

Japanese newspapers Nikkan Sports and Sports Nippon announced on Wednesday that Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon manga will be adapted to a live action movie, set to be released to theaters next spring.

The protagonist Hachiken Yugo will be played by Sexy Zone band member Nakajima Kento, and Mikage Aki will be played by Hirose Arisu. The movie is directed by Yoshida Keisuke and filming started this month in Obhiro in Hokkaido, which is also where the manga is based on. 

Silver Spoon is written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, who is also the author of Full Metal Alchemist. The manga started serialization in Shounen Sunday in 2011 and has won various awards including the Manga Taishou in 2012. 

 

The story follows Hachiken Yugo and his classmates at an agricultural high school in Hokkaido. So far eight volumes have been published and it has been adapted into a anime this July, which is still currently airing.
