In the November 15, 2011 issue of Kodansha’s “Weekly Shounen Magazine”, it was revealed that a movie adaptation of Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail manga would be released on August 18, 2012. Recently some new information was released.

The title for the movie is “Fairy Tail the Movie: The Phoenix Priestess”. The movie poster was also released, along with an announcement that a new character would be introduced in the movie.

The character is an enigmatic, beautiful, young girl named “Eclair”, who possesses a mysterious stone known as the “Phoenix Stone”. The stone is a key to the mysteries within the story, and Eclair and the original Fairy Tail members are drawn into a thick and complex plot.

The manga creator Hiro Mashima actively participated in the production of the movie, drafted the movie’s story, and designed the new guest characters, including Eclair.

Advance tickets are scheduled to go on sale from April 14, and come with a booklet titled “Fairy Tail the Movie +”. The booklet includes a limited edition manga by Hiro Mashima, and is the same size as “Weekly Shounen Magazine”. The manga is a prologue to the movie, and features Eclair as the main character. In addition to the 30-page manga, the booklet (48 pages in total) contains an “Idea Sketch Gallery”, created by Hior Mashima for the movie, and an interview with the artist, the producer, and the cast.
