Fairy Tail 435 "Shout of Victory"Summary：

Avatar's plans are completely foiled with the defeat of Ikusa-Tsunagi at Natsu's hands. As the leaders of the cult are astounded by their enemies' strength, their frightened underlings try to escape. D-6 and Abel try to rally their troops, but are taken down by Pantherlily and Gajeel, who command their squad of Rune Knights to arrest the cultists.

While Gray and the others are surprised to see Gajeel as a member of the Magic Council, Lucy reunites with Levy. Soon, Natsu arrives near the group, but refuses to believe that Gajeel could ever be a member of the Council. The latter explains that he was offered the job by Warrod, then proceeds to joke about arresting his friends too for various childish reasons, but soon turns to Gray, saying that the Ice Mage would not be forgiven. At that moment, Erza approaches the small gathering and states that it was due to their efforts that Avatar's plan was thwarted.

Pantherlily and Gajeel agree and express their appreciation for Gray's help while the Devil Slayer apologizes for his actions, then admonished Levy for her poor infiltration skills, revealing that he knew she was there all along. Finally able to talk freely, the former Fairy Tail members make observations about each other's growth, then let out a mighty cheer on having completed their task successfully.

Meanwhile, Rogue, Sting and Lector observe the team and marvel at their feats. They suddenly realize that Frosch has gone down to meet them. Gray soon notices the Exceed, much to Natsu's  consternation as he remembers Future Rogue's warning. But he is relieved when Gray proclaims the Exceed cute and cuddles it, although this makes Rogue and Juvia jealous. Sting tells his partner to calm down and they head down to meet the group, which is currently happily fawning over Frosch.

Fairy Tail 436 "Memoirs"Summary：

In the Mildian Magic Academy, young Zeref hands his written work to his professors. They are shocked to see that he has written about a connection between Magic and life and death, something which is considered a taboo subject. As he is warned not to do such things ever again, Zeref expresses his curiosity about life and death.

As Zeref wakes up from his dream, he mentions his brother's death and starts recollecting about his various research topics, one of which was the R-System itself. He recalls how the R-System greatly impressed everyone, but further angered his professors for dealing with a taboo topic. As years pass, Zeref starts his research on his new idea, the Eclipse Project. While researching, one of the professors comes in, wondering if all of his creations are attempts to bring back his deceased brother. The latter then proceeds by telling him that he is expelled from the academy. Shocked to hear this, Zeref wants to explain his doings, but the professor angrily tells him he can't bring his brother back, something which causes Zeref to go delirious, ending up being cursed by Ankhseram and, subsequently, killing all of his surroundings. Zeref then starts explaining the sadness of his cursed life, as well as his wish to die, something which led him to create Demons of Tartarus, including E.N.D., who turns out to be his younger brother whom he managed to revive.

Wanting to talk with Natsu about Igneel and Mavis in the future, Zeref leaves, heading towards a mysterious location. As he arrives, he ends up meeting with Acnologia, albeit in his human form. The two then start a discussion about their purposes as well as their goals, with Zeref coming to a conclusion of annihilating both Acnologia and mankind. As Acnologia wonders if the latter always wanted to fight against someone with all his strength, Zeref announces the final battle between himself, Acnologia and humanity, something which causes the former to smirk.
