    With 771, 764 tickets sold on 223 screens and 1,131,004,600 yen earned, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (Evangelion Shin Gekijō-ban Q) earned the highest weekend box office in Japan this year.  

    Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese media franchise created and owned by Gainax. In September, 2006, Gainax confirmed the launch of a new animated film series called Rebuild of Evangelion, consisting four movies. The first movie, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, was released in Japan on September 1, 2007 and the second, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, on June 27, 2009. Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, the third one, opened last Saturday November 17, 2012. 

    The series's official website has begun streaming a new ad for the third movie, featuring the ending theme song "Sakura Nagashi", contributed by Japanese singer Hikaru Utada.
