Tokyo TV's official website for the Naruto Shippūden TV anime series release a new visual for the new arc. The new arc will air in May.

The combined 21st and 22nd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed more details of the new arc. It is confirmed that the new arc will be based on Masashi Kishimoto's original manga, featuring the "final decisive battle" between the original Team 7 and Kaguya.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation will sing a new opening theme song titled "Blood Circulator" for the anime new arc.

The anime the Naruto Shippūden: Itachi Shinden-hen: Hikari to Yami arc, adapted from Takashi Yano's two-volume Naruto spinoff novels Itachi Shinden, aired on March 3. This arc tells the story of Itachi before the start of the manga.
